Symmetrical

Human beings crave symmetry,
imposing it on ourselves and each other

Think of the terrible symmetry of memory:
In the end it all gets turned against us
The joy turned sour, the fear now effervescent,
All of it becoming what it wasn’t, before evaporating.

And here you are, Tiresias inverted,
so certain of now
